About Vicky
I believe in the transformative power of therapy, and I’m passionate about supporting people as they navigate difficult times and work toward healing and growth. I hold a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Yoga Therapy. In addition to this I have undertaken a number of courses to further my knowledge, understanding and practice. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists and abide my their codes of ethics to ensure I work safely and in the best interests of my clients. I also receive regular supervision to support my practice.
My route to becoming a therapist was winding and has involved several changes in direction, including working as a research scientist, a successful corporate career in marketing and financial services, teaching yoga, setting up and running a yoga studio, and working as a yoga therapist and psychotherapist. These different roles have bought me into contact with a wide variety of people, environments and challenges. I believe this breadth of experience really helps in my role as a therapist.
I am passionate about relationships, the ones we have with ourselves, those around us and the communities we are part of. I am fascinated by the interactions between mind and body, between our early experiences and current ways of being, and between our selves and our environment. I work holistically, drawing on both traditional psychotherapeutic and body-based somatic approaches, tailoring the work to each person’s unique needs.
I have experience supporting people with a variety of issues including relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and eating disorders. As well as working in private practice I work at a specialist eating disorders clinic (Orri) supporting clients through both somatic and psychotherapeutic interventions. I have previously worked in a hospice counselling service (Phyllis Tuckwell) and a housing and community counselling service (Release Counselling).
